Laskeuduimme aamulla Sydneyhin. Kengukello lähti käyntiin klo 10.30 7.1 2010. Kaikki kenguruhavainnot ja toimenpiteet kerrotaan suhteessa kengukellon nollahetkeen. Se tarkoittaa että esimerkiksi nyt Kenguhetkessä 6.00 olen tehnyt 0 kenguruhavaintoa. Päivän ohjelma on hankkia datayhteys minulle, hypätä bussiin ja matkustaa Canberraan, jossa tapaamme Patrician ja Rogerin.
Sydneyn hintataso on pöyristyttävä, eli lähes sama kuin Suomessa. KL:n jälkeen se tuntuu vain niin kovin kalliilta. 🙂 Sydney tuntuu myös jotenkin laimealta, liian tutulta verrattuna edelliseen maahan. Täällä ei ole koristeellisuutta, eksoottisen näköisiä ihmisiä ja puita.
Tutkiessani erilaisia mainoslappusia aloin muodostamaan Kengurusuunnitelmaa(tm). Kenguruja on jumissa useissa eri (maksullisissa) paikoissa ja niiden lähelle tuntuu pääsevän todella helposti, jos mainoslappusten kuviin on uskominen. Ne pahaa aavistamattomat karvakasat on aivan halausetäisyydellä ilman minkään asteen juoksemista. Se tarkoittaa että minulla on hyvin energiaa jäljellä painimista varten ja Krista osaa käyttää kameran sarjatulitilaa. Tulen käyttämään tätä optiota sikäli villin kengurun halaamisyritykset epäonnistuvat. Yleisesti Sydneyssä olisi useita hurjia aktiviteettejä joihin minä haluaisin osallistua, mutta Krista ei ole niin innoissaan. Pidämme tässä vaiheessa suunnitelupöydän täysin avoimena ja täynnä ideoita. 🙂
Paikallinen mokkula on nyt ostettu, samoin hellehatut ja nyt istumme bussissa matkalla kohti Canberraa.
Canberrassa meitä vastassa oli Patricia. Vietimme rauhallisen koti-illan käyden läpi käytännöllisyyksiä ja tulevan viikon suunnitelmia.
We landed to Sydney this morning. The kangaroo clock started running at 10.30 AM 7.1.2010. All kangaroo related markings will be told in relation to the 0 hour of the kangaroo clock. That means that in kangaroo moment 6.00 hours I’ve spotted 0 kangaroos. Today’s plan is to get me a data connection, jump on to a bus and travel to Canberra where we’ll meet Patricia and Roger.
Sydney’s price level is horrible, that is almost as much as in Finland. After KL it just feels so very expensive. 🙂 Sydney is also a lot more tamer and familiar than KL. There are no decorative buildings and exotic looking people and trees.
While I studied different advertisements I started drafting up the Kangaroo plan ™. It seems that some of the kangaroos are stuck in various parks (which you need to pay to get in and it appears that you can get very close to them quite easily, that is if you can believe the pictures in the advertisements. Those unsuspecting fur balls are right at the hugging distance without any running. This means that I should have plenty of energy left for any wrestling that is needed and Krista knows how to use the fast mode in our camera. I will be using plan if I fail to hug a wild kangaroo. In general Sydney has a lot of wild activities that I would like to participate in, but Krista wasn’t all that excided. We’ll keep our plans completely open and let the ideas pour in.
We have the data connection and new hats. Now we are sitting in a bus on our way to Canberra.
Patricia was waiting for us at Canberra. We spend a nice peaceful home evening going through the practicalities and the plans for the coming week.
