Heräsimme kohtuullisen aikaisin, mutta vietimme todella rauhallisen aamun, jonka aikana varasimme viimeisetkin lentomme. Nyt reissumme on paria majoitusta vaille valmis. Rauhallisen aamun jälkeen lähdimme kohti Parlamenttitaloa. Sen mahtava lipputanko saattaa näkyä jossain kuvissamme, se näkyy kaikkialle Canberrassa.
Magpie on muuten lintu joka pyrkii tappamaan sinut, mutta vain osan ajastaan. Ilmeisesti nämä siivekkäät pikku paholaiset ovat parin kolmen kuukauden verran hengenvaarallisia, lailla suojattuja, kiusankappaleita. Alhaalta löytyy kuvakin moisesta. Itse pidin niitä ihan OK lintuina, mutta nyt ovat vaarattomia. Ne vain tarkkailevat ja etsivät heikkoja yksilöitä. Ehkä Hitchkokin leffa pohjaa näihin kavereihin. 🙂
Parlamenttitalo oli hieno nähtävyys. Otimme siellä lyhyen (40 min) opastetun kierroksen. Reissun päätteeksi menimme kattotasanteelle patsastelemaan ylväinä :). Knoppitietona mainittakoon että parlamenttitalon kaupasta Juhalle jäi käteen sikamakea kravatti! Sieltä suuntasimme Belconnenin ostoskeskukseen, jossa ikkunaostiskelimme ja söimme lounaamme.
Ilta meni näppärästi Australia – Suomi trivial pursuit kisassa joka päättyi lopulta tasapeliin. Pelin kysymykset olivat liian aussipainotteisia, muuten Suomi olisi voittanut helposti ;).
We woke up fairly early, but we spent a really peaceful morning. During the morning we also booked our last flights. Our trip is now almost complete, we are missing only couple of hostels. After the peaceful morning we head out to the Parliament house. It’s mighty flag pole might be seen in some our pictures since it can be seen all around Canberra.
Magpie is a bird that tries to kill you, but only some of the time. Apparently these winged little devils are lethal two to three months of the year, but they are protected by the law. You should find a picture of one those at the bottom of the page. I thought they are quite OK birds but they are now harmless. They are observing and spotting out the weak ones. Perhaps Hitchkoks movie is based on this fellows. 🙂
Parliament house is a great place to see. We took a short (40 min) guide tour in there. To finish the visit we went to the roof top and posed some. 🙂 As a useless fact I need to tell you that Juha grapped a nice tie for him self from the store of the parliament house! From there we travelled to Belconnen shopping mall where we did some window shopping and had our lunch.
Evening passed by while we played Australia – Finland trivial pursuit contest. It ended in a draw. The games questions where way too Australia centric, otherwise Finland would have won the contest hands down! 😉
